Martina Knecht
 

I grew up bilingual in Ticino, speaking Italian and German, and moved between languages and cultural perspectives from an early age. Study and work later took me to Biel/Bienne, Milan, Mantua and Quito; I have lived in Zurich since 2016. French, English and Spanish are also part of this multilingual landscape – five languages that shape both my professional and personal life.​

​My training spans applied linguistics and visual communication. I hold two degrees with honours in translation, interpreting and language mediation, complemented by professional training in Visual Design and Illustration. More recently, I further developed this linguistic background with a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Speech-to-Text Interpreting in Multilingual Settings at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences.

Over the years, this interplay of language, translation and design has shaped my perspective on communication. What interests me is what happens between languages: how meaning shifts with context, and what it takes for an idea to retain the same precision and naturalness in another language.
